Uber is not responsible for a deadly crash involving one of its self-driving vehicles in Arizona. The Yavapai County Attorney's office released a statement yesterday stating that after a review of the evidence, they determined there is nothing for which to hold Uber criminally liable. Elaine Herzberg was hit and killed by an Uber self-driving vehicle in Tempe, near Phoenix almost a year ago while crossing the street. The Yavapai County Attorney's office agreed to take over the case due to a conflict of interest between Uber and the Maricopa County Attorney's Office where Tempe is located. The YCA also recommended expert analysis of the video of the accident to determine what the person in the driver's seat should have done and when.
